| The
Alligator, Alligator missisippiensis, is native to the US coast
from the Mouth of the Rio Grande thorough North Carolina. It
once dominated freshwater marshes but its numbers were greatly reduced
by hunting. The Alligator has eighty hollow teeth which are
continuously replaced. It's powerful jaws deliver a bite pressure
of more than 3000 pounds per square inch. |
