| Two male Hooded Mergansers, Lophodytes cucullatus, on a small pond in Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in New Jersey, in winter. This species is found across most of North America and is one of the most showy waterfowl. I was excited to find two pairs in close range as they are easily frightened by human presence.
