The Whimbrel, Numenius phaeopus, is a large shorebird that occurs in widely scattered areas across the United States, Canada and Mexico, but is often hidden in the marsh grass. This one was with several others at the Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in New Jersey in early May. |
